EPIX Announces Docuseries Inspired by ‘Godfather of Harlem’ with Forest Whitaker

The premium network EPIX has announced a four-part docuseries called ‘By Whatever Means Necessary: The Times of Godfather of Harlem’, inspired by the music and subjects in their original series starring Forest Whitaker. The docuseries will depict the true story of Harlem in the 1960s and how its history connects to current time. With a combination of interviews, archival footage, imagery and key moments from the Godfather of Harlem series itself, the series will be a musical journey recounting how Harlem artists used their gifts and voices to take a stand against oppression.

‘By Whatever Means Necessary: The Times of Godfather of Harlem’ is set to premiere this fall and will be executive produced by Whitaker and Nina Yang Bongiovi’s Significant Productions with Kasseem “Swizz Beatz”Dean and Keith McQuirter for Decoder Media.

‘Godfather of Harlem’ series has been renewed for a second season and will be released at a future date. The first season is currently available for streaming.
